The competition hasn't even really begun yet.
Emcees have until Friday, Jan 7 to get their preliminary submission in. Our selection committee will then analyze each video and seed the top 16 entries into a head-to-head tournament. The field will be announced on Monday, January 10. Well post the complete bracket on this site so everyone will be able to see all the match-ups.
The tournament will be single elimination and consist of (4) rounds until one grand prize winner is chosen. Each emcee will have to submit a new set of 16 bars for each round they advance to. No flukes or one-hit wonders are gonna be able to steal this title.
So therefore, if you are selected to compete in the tournament, you'll have to submit a new set of bars for your first round match-up. If you happen to advance out of that round, you will then have to submit another set of bars for the Great 8 round. If you advance out of that round, you will then have to submit another set of bars for the Final Four. Then of course, if you advance to the championship round, you'll need to submit you final set - and hopefully your best set of 16 bars.
To be fair, we'll give each emcee several days to submit their new bars for each round they advance to. Submissions will be due on a Friday and the winner we be announced that following Monday.
Baring some unforeseen event, the Sweet 16s Champion will be crowned the first week in February.

I'm actually excited about this contest and I see emcees is bringing they A game. I been writing since I was in the 7th grade, performing since the 9th, and I been nice since nice been nice lol. I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY now residing in Greensboro, NC and I have been putn n work for many years perfecting my craft. I along with my producer Jay Walletz (NDaGuttaEnt.), and manager Kori Siler (QandLent.) have been taking the city by storm. I'm releasing my mixtape "The Takeover Begins NOW!! Mixtape" Hosted by Dj Enapop in another week or so. So keep your ear to the curb for that and feel free to visit my site www.sirplusthemc.com or reverbnation.com/sirplus to hear my material, watch videos, and purchase some official Sir Plus merchandise or ringtones. I'm planning on advancing each week and I wish my competition the best of luck and may the BEST man WIN!! - Sir Plus

I think a few cats got shook when they saw who they had to face in the first round, but for the most part everybody had a real strong showing.
Now it's up to the judges and fans.
We'll post all the first round videos later this evening. Stay tuned ...

In retrospect, it might have been wise for Young E to decide to sit this one out.
J Gunn's bars were BRUTAL!!!!!!!!

Shoutout to all the people that made it. Now even though I didn't make the tournament, to all the people who forfeited you really shouldn't have even entered the contest. What I do know is, if Chaos Theory was in, there would be NO BACKING DOWN

Update: Chizzy Chaynes was originally announced as a forfeit but he contacted us immediately and explained that he submitted his video last night. He then resent the video to us right when the new first round page was posted. However we never received the submission by today's 3 PM deadline so we have no choice but to disqualify him.
Ultimately we felt that is was not fair to the other emcees who successfully submitted their videos to let Chizzy have an extension. Rules are rules and deadlines are just that: deadlines. It is every emcee's responsibility to make sure we receive their submission by the stated deadline.
However, since Chizzy Chaynes took time to send in a video we will still post it on the first round matchup page but no one will be able to place a vote.
Young Stacks is still considered the official winner in this matchup.

That's actually not a bad idea.
Not sure how we could added a wildcard spot at this stage in the game ... but it could be something we might consider for future tournaments.
Thanks for the suggestion.
