It’s times like these when you can imagine what Cyrus from that movie “The Warriors” must have felt like.
Standing in front of a virtual army of youth and rebellion, looking out across a sea of unlimited potential, knowing that at this very moment the future is yours for the taking.
No, we’re not talking about waging war against local law enforcement or trying to overthrow the city government, but rather our vision today is about uniting (and igniting) the entire hip hop community in the state of North Carolina.
We’re talking about shining a spotlight on a region that has long been home to talented artists and passionate music lovers, but for some reason has always been overlooked nationally. We’re talking about cultivating the local fanbase here so that the hottest rappers in this state are able to earn a comfortable living and continue their craft even without a major record deal.
Can You Dig It?
Today marks the official launch of NCHipHopConnect.com and the main goal of this site is to bring local hip hop artists and local hip hop fans together.
We plan on doing this by providing exclusive interviews with the top emcees, producers, industry insiders and power brokers in NC. This site will have constantly updated galleries of all the latest NC hip hop videos and photos. You’ll be able to access our free mixtape vault featuring the latest music from the best artists in the state. And we even have a message board were fans and artists can both share information, debate topics and dialogue with one another in real time.
But please understand, we have no interest in starting schoolgirl-like controversies or instigating any cross-state rap beefs between local artists and/or record labels. This is not a he-said, she-said operation. NCHipHopConnect.com will be a professionally-ran web site with true journalistic intergrity that was created in a spirit of love, unity and respect for this culture we call as hip hop.
And while our vision is an ambitious one, there are plenty of improvements that will take place on this site in the weeks and months ahead.
Today marks just the beginning but the movement has already begun.
North Carolina, stand up.
