By now you should know that the official tournament field has been announced and the first round match-ups are set:
J Gunn vs. Young E
Ty Fly vs. Cueue Ayun
Jones Andrews vs. Donte Antonio
Self vs. Blak Godi
Sir Plus vs. Rock L Spivey
Jim D vs. Wilson Phisk
Chizzy Chaynes vs. Young Stacks
Los Vegas vs. Swayze Jones
Note: All emcees who previously submitted a video for the Sweet 16 contest but were not selected for this tournament will be considered alternates and may still have a chance to participate if one or more of the inital 16 contestants are unable to compete.
How The Tournament Will Work
Each selected emcee will now have until Monday, January 17 at 3 PM to submit their new16-bar video to ncsweet16s@gmail.com. If a video is not received by NCHipHopConnect.com before the deadline, that emcee will be disqualified and their opponent will automatically advance to the next round. All first round videos will be posted to the online gallery on 6 PM on January 17 for everyone to view. The first round winners will be announced on Friday, January 21.
Contestants will ultimately be competing against the person they are matched up against, so it is recommended that each emcee study their opponent’s preliminary videos and do whatever it takes to give yourself an advantage. Good natured jokes and trash talk is allowed. Your 16 bar video will be judged for lyrical content, flow, and overall creativity. May the best emcee win!
The Judging Process
NcHipHopConnect.com is committed to having a fair and unbiased tournament where the very best emcee emerges as the grand prize winner. Therefore, we have assembled a panel of (4) impartial judges to determine the winner of each matchup.
They are DJ Ike G Da, respected hip-hop artist Magnedo, renowned hip-hop journalist ShaLinda Jeanine and NCHipHopConnect.com writer god Meta.
In addition, the fans on this site will also have a chance to vote online for each match-up to help determine the winner. Whichever emcee earns the majority of votes from the panel of judges and fans will advance to the next round.
